Reflective Sheeting for Europe: EN 12899-1 RA Classes and CE
Supplying reflective sheeting into the EU: EN 12899-1 classes RA1/RA2, CE and DoC paperwork, national spec labels, and RFQ points for European buyers.
What do European buyers specify?
Fixed vertical road signs in the EU are specified through EN 12899-1, whose photometric performance classes are commonly referenced as RA1 and RA2 (plus design classes for colors and durability). National annexes and manufacturer specifications (e.g. R3B-type labels) exist — they must always be named with their exact source, never presented as a unified EN class.
Grade mapping (demo orientation, not a compliance claim)
| EN program need | Typical starting family | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| RA1-class signage | Engineer grade | Verify per-SKU photometrics and colors |
| RA2-class signage | HIP / microprismatic | Declare the exact EN class per SKU |
| Temporary / road works | Work zone sheeting | National roadworks specs differ by country |
Paperwork European buyers expect
- Declaration of Performance (DoC) / CE marking context where applicable.
- Test reports naming the EN 12899-1 version and lab.
- Color class (CR) and durability statements per SKU — not category slogans.
