Reflective Vinyl vs Sheeting vs Film: What Buyers Actually Mean

Is reflective vinyl the same as reflective sheeting?

In everyday RFQs, vinyl, sheeting and film describe the same product family — a retroreflective face on a pressure-sensitive adhesive with a release liner. Usage differs by region and habit: US traffic buyers say “sheeting”, sign shops and many export markets say “vinyl” or “film”.

What to write so wording never causes a wrong quote

1. Performance grade (engineer grade / HIP / microprismatic…).
2. ASTM Type or EN class from a TDS.
3. Face material if it matters (acrylic / PVC / flexible).
4. Print or converting process.
5. Roll size and color.

With those five fields, the supplier knows exactly what you mean regardless of which noun you used.
